DocentwellHand clients a live, branded guide to editing their site, plus a launch check. Trial, then $39/mo.
Full name: “Docentwell: Client Handoff”
From $39 a month per site. 14-day free trial on each site, starting when you publish the guide link, export the PDF, write help text or run a launch check. Looking around and previews don't start it. No card needed to try it.
Docentwell writes the guide you hand a client at launch, from the site itself. It reads your pages, CMS collections and fields, then builds a page in your brand that shows the client how to change their own site: which pages to edit, what each collection is for, how to fill every field, and who to ask. It checks the live site before you hand it over, and keeps the guide current after.
Since the legacy Editor was retired in August 2026, clients edit inside the Designer's canvas with a client seat. Every client needs new instructions, and a PDF written by hand goes out of date the first time a field changes. Webflow's own documentation tools write instructions for AI agents and help text one field at a time; none of them produce a guide your client can read.
What you get
A guide written from the site
Every page the client edits, every collection with its item count and the page each item gets, and every field with plain instructions: what an Option field accepts, which collection a Reference points to, a field's character limit, the site's time zone for dates. Step pictures drawn with the client's own domain, collection names, field names and help text, starting with the ?update shortcut that opens any live page for editing. Replace any step with your own screenshot.
In your brand, always current
A private link to a page with your logo, color and contact details. No Great Work or Docentwell branding on it. When the site changes, the page changes. New collections, fields, pages and publishes turn into change log suggestions you approve before the client sees them.
A launch check scored against the live site
SEO title and description on every page, alt text on images, a designed 404 page, favicon and webclip, every form tested, redirects from the old site's addresses, the scripts the site loads (including any loaded over http or from the staging address), domains and https, analytics, indexing and the sitemap. Each item passes, needs a check or needs work, with the reason and the pages or images to fix. A score out of 100 you can show the client in the guide, or keep to yourself.
Handoff and care
An editor role checklist for client seats: Content editor, Marketer or Reviewer, where the site lives, billing, publishing rights, form notifications, domain and analytics access. Webflow doesn't share seats or billing with apps, so you tick these; each tick records who and when. Up to three care plans in the guide, with a list of what care would cover on that particular site.
What it doesn't do
It doesn't change your design, content or settings. The only thing it writes to Webflow is field help text, and only when you press Apply. Nothing is added to your published site. It doesn't invite clients, set roles or move billing; Webflow doesn't let apps do that.
Get started
Install Docentwell, approve your site, open it from the Apps panel in the Designer, and press Preview on the Guide tab.
What Docentwell needs
Read access to your site, pages, CMS collections, forms and images, and permission to write CMS field help text. The Webflow access token is stored encrypted. Not made or endorsed by Webflow. English interface.
