Snippetwell for Webflow: Documentation
Snippetwell puts the search snippet of every static page and CMS item of your Webflow site in one grid inside the Designer: SEO title, meta description, and Open Graph title, description and image. You check them, change many at once, review the difference, apply, and undo if you need to. With Search Console connected, you also see how each page does in Google.
Get started
- Install Snippetwell from the Webflow Apps marketplace and approve your site. (If you choose Deny, nothing is connected or stored; open Snippetwell in the Designer and choose Connect this site to try again.)
- Open your site in the Designer, then open Snippetwell from the Apps panel. The panel opens at its largest size and reads every page and every CMS item. Big sites take a few seconds per 1,000 items.
- Look at the footer: how many pages and items, how many issues, how many staged changes.
The grid
- Show: everything, static pages only, or one collection.
- Language: if your site has more than one, pick the language to edit. Switching is locked while you have staged changes.
- Issues: filter to rows with any issue or one kind (missing title, duplicate description, title too wide...).
- Search looks in names, paths and every SEO value.
- Sort: site order, most issues first, and with Search Console: biggest opportunity, most impressions, lowest CTR (pages with at least 100 impressions).
- Read from Webflow at shows when the grid was read; Refresh reads it again.
- Each title and description shows characters and pixels, such as
52/60 · 488/580px. Titles over 60 characters or about 580px, and descriptions over 160 characters or about 920px, may be cut off in Google's desktop results. Short ones get a gentle amber note. Hover a cell to read the exact issue. - Red: missing values and duplicates (the same title or description on two or more rows, ignoring case and trailing punctuation). Amber: length, width, a description that only repeats the title, or no Open Graph image.
- Template pages (the page a collection uses for its items) appear greyed out for context. Edit the items instead.
Static pages
- SEO title, meta description, Open Graph title and description are read and written through Webflow's API, per language.
- An empty Open Graph title or description means "same as the SEO one", exactly like Webflow's "Same as SEO" setting. Clearing one turns that setting back on.
- The Open Graph image is set through the Designer (your main language). Paste an https:// image address.
- A page with no SEO title shows the page name in search results; Snippetwell flags it.
- Changes are saved to Webflow and go live when you next publish your site.
CMS collections: which fields are the SEO fields
A collection's items get their search snippet from the fields their template page binds to the SEO and Open Graph settings. No Webflow API exposes those bindings, so you tell Snippetwell once per collection:
- Show the collection. The Fields panel suggests fields from their names ("Meta Title", "SEO Description", "OG Image"). Change any, then Save fields.
- Titles and descriptions must be plain text fields; the Open Graph image an image field. Snippetwell doesn't rename items or change their slugs, so Name and Slug show as read-only if you map them.
- No SEO fields yet? Add SEO fields creates the missing ones (SEO Title, Meta Description, Open Graph Title, Open Graph Description, Open Graph Image) and maps them. Then open the collection template page's settings in the Designer and bind them to its SEO and Open Graph fields, so the published pages use them.
Edit one value
Click a cell, change it, press Stage. Staged cells are tinted; nothing is written yet. Cells that can't be edited explain why when you hover them.
Change many at once
Select rows (or the checkbox in the header for every row shown), pick the column and an action:
- Fill from a template: your own words and fields, the same way on every row. Tokens:
{page}(page or item name),{site},{title},{description},{slug},{path}, and any CMS field by name or slug, such as{category}(references show the referenced item's name, options their label, rich text as plain text). Filters:{name|upper},|lower,|title,|text,|max:60.{{and}}give literal braces. A token that's empty on a row drops the separator next to it:{name} | {category} | {site}becomesRye loaf | Acmewhen there's no category. Max cuts the whole result at a word to that many characters. - Set to: the same value everywhere.
- Find and replace: plain text, any case.
- Clear: on a page's Open Graph title or description this means "same as SEO".
- Only where empty leaves rows that already have a value.
The first three rows show what they'd become before you press Stage. A token that doesn't exist on a row stops that row (the message says which token), never a guess.
Snippetwell never writes text for you: every word comes from you or your own fields.
CSV
- Export CSV saves the rows shown, with Row ID, Type, URL path, Name, the five SEO columns and, with Search Console, clicks, impressions, CTR and position. Cells that start with = + - @ get a leading ' so spreadsheet apps don't run them.
- Import CSV matches rows by Row ID, or by URL path when there's no Row ID column. Column names are flexible ("Meta title", "SEO title", "OG description"). Only cells that differ are staged; read-only columns and Search Console columns are ignored. Problems are listed by row. Snippetwell updates pages and items that exist; it doesn't create them.
Review and apply
- Changes lists every staged cell: now in Webflow, and after Apply.
- Review changes reads each page and item from Webflow again and flags anything changed since you loaded it.
- Apply writes them as one batch: pages one request each, CMS items 100 per request, then Open Graph images through the Designer, at the pace your site's API limit allows. Rows changed in Webflow since you loaded them are skipped and marked "Changed in Webflow" in the grid.
- Publish changed CMS items that are already live (on by default) republishes those items right away. Page changes go live at your next site publish.
History and Undo
History lists every batch and undo. Undo works on the most recent batch for 30 days, and only puts back values that still hold what the batch wrote. Open Graph images are restored through the Designer the same way.
Search Console (optional)
- Search Console tab > Connect Google, then continue to Google in a new tab and allow "View Search Console data". Snippetwell can't change anything in Search Console.
- Back in the panel, press Check again, then List my properties and pick this site's property. Snippetwell suggests the one that matches your site's domains. A domain property covers your subdomains.
- Clicks, impressions, CTR and position for the last 28 or 90 days (Google's final data, which ends about 3 days ago) appear next to every page and item, matched by URL path. www, http and trailing-slash variants are added together.
- Snippets worth rewriting first lists pages on Google's first two result pages whose CTR is below what that position usually gets, sorted by "missed clicks": impressions times the gap to a fixed benchmark CTR for the position. It's a yardstick for sorting, not a forecast.
- Queries shows the searches that bring a page up (Google hides rare ones). Edit jumps to the page in the grid.
- Numbers are kept in memory for up to 6 hours; Refresh asks Google again. Disconnect Google revokes access.
What Snippetwell doesn't do
- Canonical URLs, noindex and collection template pages' SEO settings: Webflow's APIs don't offer them, so set them in Page settings.
- It doesn't publish your whole site, rename items, change slugs, write structured data, or add code to your site.
- It doesn't write titles or descriptions for you.
Plans
$39 a month or $390 a year per site; $149 a month or $1,490 a year for every site in a Webflow workspace. 14-day free trial per site from your first Apply; no card needed to try it. When the trial ends, the grid and its checks stay open read-only and Undo of your last batch keeps working; editing, templates, CSV and Search Console data need a plan. Plan > Choose opens Stripe Checkout in a new tab; Manage billing handles invoices, cards and cancelling. EU and UK buyers can cancel within 14 days of first purchase for a full refund.
Limits
Up to 2,000 pages per language and 20,000 items per collection; up to 10,000 changes per Apply; values up to 2,000 characters; Undo for 30 days.
Remove Snippetwell
Settings > Remove Snippetwell deletes everything we stored for the site (tokens, field mappings, history, undo journals, the Google connection). Your site isn't changed. Cancel your plan separately in Plan > Manage billing.
