Swathwell guide
Swathwell puts your Wix Stores products and variants in a grid you can edit like a spreadsheet, shows you every change before it's written, and lets you undo it for 30 days. Questions: hello@greatwork.company.
Getting started
- Open Swathwell from your Wix dashboard. It loads your products (a few seconds per thousand).
- Each product has a row. A product with options (like Size) has a row under it for each variant; prices, SKUs, stock, costs and weights live on those variant rows. A product without options keeps them on its own row.
- A grey cell can't be edited there; hover it to see why (for example "Set this on each variant row").
- Before your free trial starts you can do everything except apply: load, filter, save views, stage and review edits.
Editing
- One cell: click it, type, press Enter. The cell turns yellow: it's staged, not written yet.
- Many rows: select rows with the checkboxes (or select none to work on every row shown), pick a column and an operation in "Change many at once", and click Preview. Check the before and after, then Stage.
- Operations: set, clear, fill down, find and replace (with whole words, match case or a pattern), add a prefix or
suffix, change case, trim spaces, combine columns (
{name} by {brand}), change by percent or amount, round prices, formula, and add to or remove from categories. - Rounding: end in .99, end in .95, whole number, nearest 0.05 or 0.10; rounded up, down or to the nearest.
- Formulas: numbers, number columns in braces,
+ - * /, brackets and percent. For example{cost} * 2.5,{price} * 90%or({cost} + 1.5) * 2. - Visibility: on a product row it hides or shows the product; on a variant row it hides that variant.
- Stock: a whole number, or In stock / Out of stock. On the current catalog a number turns quantity tracking on for that variant. On the older catalog (V1) tracking is set for the whole product in Wix, and the cell takes the matching kind. Variants stocked in several locations are read-only here.
Reviewing and applying
- "Review and apply" lists every staged change as before and after. Undo any line there.
- Apply writes in parts of 25 products. Each product is read again from Wix first: a row changed since you loaded the grid is skipped and listed, never overwritten. Rows Wix refuses are listed with Wix's reason.
- Name the change if you like; it shows in the change log.
Undo and the change log
- The Change log lists every apply, undo and sale start or end with its counts. Open one to see each row before and after.
- Undo works on any change for 30 days. It puts back only rows that still hold what Swathwell wrote; rows edited since are left as they are and listed.
- The log keeps 90 days on Standard and 1 year on Pro. When a plan ends, Undo and the log stay open for 30 days.
Saved views
Set filters, search, sort, rows (products only, variants, edited) and columns, type a name and click Save view. Views are per site; Standard keeps 20, Pro 100.
CSV
- Export CSV saves the rows and columns shown. The first column is the Row ID; keep it.
- Edit in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets, then Import CSV. The import only stages: you see what will change, and any cell that won't work is listed with its line number. Rows match by Row ID, or by SKU when there's no Row ID column.
- Columns Swathwell can't change (options, custom text fields) are left alone. Import updates existing products; it doesn't create or delete them.
Scheduled sales
- Select products or variants, click "Schedule a sale for the selection", and pick percent off, amount off or a set price, rounding, an optional ribbon (like "Sale"), a start and an end (up to 90 days).
- At the start, the current catalog lowers each variant price and shows the old price struck through (an existing compare-at price stays). The older catalog (V1) sets a sale price per product.
- At the end, Swathwell puts back exactly what the sale changed. A price you edited by hand during the sale keeps your edit. "End now" ends a running sale early; "Cancel" removes one that hasn't started.
- Standard runs 2 sales at a time, Pro 25. If no plan is active at the start, the sale waits and starts once a plan is active, until its end passes.
What Swathwell doesn't do
- Create, duplicate or delete products.
- Rename option choices or custom text fields (Wix's API doesn't allow it; edit them in Wix Stores).
- Change images (only the main image's alt text, on the current catalog).
- Anything with orders, customers or payments.
Wix's limits
Wix limits how fast apps call its API. Swathwell paces itself per site and pauses when Wix asks it to, so a very large change can take several minutes. Keep the page open while it applies; anything already written is in the change log and can be undone.
