Rowstub guide
Rowstub puts your site's store orders, form entries, bookings and contacts in Google Sheets and keeps each row up to date. Questions: hello@greatwork.company, answered within one business day.
Set up in four steps
- Connect Google. Open Rowstub in your Wix dashboard, go to Google & settings and press Connect Google. Choose the Google account whose Drive should hold your sheets. Rowstub asks for access to only the files it creates or that you pick, nothing else in your Drive.
- Make a feed. On the Feeds tab press New feed and choose what to send: store orders, entries from one form, bookings or contacts. For orders, choose one row per order or one row per item.
- Choose the spreadsheet. Create a new spreadsheet from the feed, or press Pick one from your Drive to use one you already have. Type a tab name; a new name makes a new tab.
- Pick columns and switch it on. Rename columns, put them in the order you like, add filters if you want them, press Preview rows to see your newest records as rows, tick "Send new records and changes" and Save. The header row appears in your sheet straight away.
You can do all of this before your free trial starts; rows start going to your sheet once it begins.
How rows stay up to date
Every row has a Rowstub ID in its own column. When a record changes (an order is paid, fulfilled or refunded, a booking is rescheduled or canceled, a contact gets a new phone number), Rowstub finds the row with that ID and rewrites it. It writes only the cells under its own headers, so:
- you can sort and filter rows, move columns around, and add your own columns for notes;
- you can hide the Rowstub ID column, but don't delete it;
- if you delete one of Rowstub's headers, it's added again at the end of the header row.
Rowstub never deletes rows. A record deleted in Wix keeps its row in your sheet.
One row per item
With "one row per item", an order with three products becomes three rows, each with the order's details plus the item, options, SKU, quantity and prices. If an order is edited and an item removed, that item's row is blanked.
Filters
Filters decide which records get a new row. Examples: Payment status is "Paid, Partially paid" (commas mean any of these), Total is more than 100, Item SKU contains "GIFT". A row that's already in the sheet keeps updating even if it stops matching, so a paid order that's later refunded shows Refunded.
Past records
On the Feeds tab press Send past records on a feed and choose how far back. Records already in the sheet are updated, not added twice. Standard reaches back 90 days; Pro sends your full history.
When something goes wrong
If Google is slow, Rowstub tries again after 1 minute, 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 1 hour, 3 hours and 6 hours. Anything still not sent shows on the Activity tab with the reason and a Retry button. Common reasons:
- Google access was removed: connect Google again; waiting rows go out on their own.
- The spreadsheet was deleted or moved to the trash: restore it, or choose another spreadsheet in the feed.
- Rowstub can't open this spreadsheet: pick it again with Pick one from your Drive.
- New rows for this month are used: rows already in your sheet keep updating; new rows wait as Held until the 1st of the month or an upgrade to Pro.
Once a day Rowstub also checks for records that changed without Wix telling us, so a missed notification never leaves a row behind.
Plans
- Standard: $24 a month ($20 billed yearly). 3 feeds switched on, 2,000 new rows a month, past records from the last 90 days.
- Pro: $49 a month ($40 billed yearly). 25 feeds, 25,000 new rows a month, your full history.
- Updating rows that are already in your sheet never counts toward the limit.
- 14-day free trial through Wix. Upgrade or cancel from the button at the top of Rowstub, or in your Wix account.
Dates and numbers
Dates are written as YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM in the time zone you choose under Google & settings, which sorts correctly as text. Money and quantities are written as numbers, so sums and pivots work. Text is written exactly as entered, never as a formula.
Your data
Rowstub doesn't keep copies of your records. It keeps your feed settings, which row each record went to, the retry queue and a 30-day activity log with record numbers only. Download what it stores under Google & settings. Uninstall and everything is deleted after 30 days. Details: privacy policy.
