Lessonwell docs
Lessonwell shows the requester's Thinkific or Teachable student record next to a Zendesk ticket and lets the agents you choose enroll students, extend or end access, unenroll and issue single-use coupons, each one confirmed and logged on the ticket. It runs inside Zendesk; there is no Great Work server.
Setup
- Get a token or key. Thinkific: Settings > Code & analytics > API Access Tokens > Add API access token (or the legacy API key on older plans). Teachable, as the school owner: Settings > API > Create API Key. Name it "Zendesk Lessonwell".
- Install Lessonwell, choose the platform and paste the token or key. It is a Zendesk secure
setting: agents never see it, and Zendesk only sends it to
api.thinkific.comordevelopers.teachable.com. - Choose who may act: everyone by default; use
admin, custom role ids orgroup:<id>to narrow it. Switch off any action you do not want support to take. - Coupons (Thinkific, optional): create a coupon promotion in Thinkific with the discount, courses and end date support may give, and paste its id.
Finding the student
Lessonwell looks the student up by exact email: the requester's primary address first, then every other verified address on their Zendesk profile (turn that off in the settings if you prefer). Agents can also type an email or a student id in the lookup box. It never searches by name and never lists other students.
What agents see
- Every course with a progress bar and percentage, enrolled date, completed date and a status: in progress, not started, free trial, access ended, completed or unenrolled. Current courses come first.
- Access dates (Thinkific): when access ends, or that it ended and how long ago.
- Certificates (Teachable): issue date and serial number for completed courses.
- Purchases (Teachable): the latest 20, with the course and pricing plan, amount, date, and paid, refunded, partly refunded or chargeback, plus the coupon id used.
- Latest activity: the most recent dated event the platform shares, with what it was. Neither platform shares sign-in times through its API, so this is enrollment, completion or purchase activity, labeled as such.
Actions
Actions are available on saved tickets that are not closed, because each one is logged there.
| Action | Thinkific | Teachable | Tag |
|---|---|---|---|
| Enroll in a course | Yes, always a full enrollment, with optional access days | Yes | lessonwell_enrolled |
| Extend access | Yes, by the days you set, from the later of today and the current end | No API | lessonwell_access_extended |
| End access now | Yes, progress kept; extending restores it | No API | lessonwell_access_ended |
| Unenroll | No API (use End access) | Yes | lessonwell_unenrolled |
| Issue a coupon | Yes, single use, in your promotion | No API | lessonwell_coupon_issued |
Every action shows a confirmation that says exactly what will change, takes an optional reason, and writes an internal note (who, what, before and after, the reason) with the tag. Each change is sent once. If the platform does not answer, Lessonwell reads the student back: if the change is there it is logged as done, and if not the agent is asked to check before trying again.
Not available
Resetting progress, resending certificates, refunds, deleting students, changing prices or promotions, Thinkific order history (the API cannot list one student's orders) and Kajabi (its API would put a session token in the agent's browser). Lessonwell does not contain those calls.
Plans
Team: $99 per month for up to 12 agents and admins. Scale: $8 per agent per month for 13 or more. 14-day trial with a card; no free plan. If your team outgrows the plan, student records stay visible and actions turn off until an admin changes the plan.
Troubleshooting
- "did not accept the API Access Token" (or key): revoked, expired, pasted wrong, or the site's plan has no API access (Thinkific Grow or Pro + Growth and above, Teachable Growth and above).
- No student found: the student bought with another address. Add it to their Zendesk profile, or use the lookup box.
- "answered slowly ... check before trying again": look at the student in Thinkific or Teachable, or press Refresh, before repeating the action.
