Answerboard Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 1, 2026

This policy covers Answerboard: Questions and Answers for Confluence (the "App"), a Forge app published on the Atlassian Marketplace by Great Work LLC ("Great Work", "we", "us"), 651 N Broad St Suite 206, Middletown, DE 19709, USA. Contact: hello@greatwork.company.

Summary

The App runs entirely on Atlassian's Forge platform. Everything it stores stays in Atlassian-hosted Forge storage for your Confluence site. Great Work does not run servers for the App, does not receive your content, and does not sell or share personal data.

What the App stores

Inside Forge storage for your site (Forge SQL and Forge key-value storage):

  • Questions and answers your users write: titles, bodies, tags, the page a question is linked to and that page's title, creation and edit times.
  • Atlassian account IDs of authors, voters, followers and notification recipients. Not names, not email addresses.
  • Votes, follows (question, tag or space), in-app notifications and their read state.
  • Settings: per-space group IDs and names chosen by space admins, curated tags, guidance text, site-wide toggles.
  • For imported content: the author name and date written in the imported file.

What the App reads from Confluence

The App calls Confluence's REST API as the signed-in user to check what that user may see and do: space details and permitted operations, page and blog post titles for linked pages, the user's group memberships, and group names for the settings screen. These responses are used in the moment to enforce permissions and are not stored, except page titles of linked pages and group names an admin selected.

Publishing a FAQ page

If a moderator clicks "Publish FAQ page", the App writes the space's accepted answers to a normal Confluence page in that same space, as that moderator. The page is regular Confluence content under your site's permissions; it is not sent anywhere else.

What leaves Atlassian

Nothing. The App has no external network permissions and no remote backend. Great Work cannot see your questions, answers or users. Atlassian provides the hosting and processes data under its own terms (https://www.atlassian.com/legal/privacy-policy) as the platform provider.

Logs

Forge keeps function logs that Great Work can read for troubleshooting. The App logs only error messages, not question or answer content, and never logs tokens. Atlassian controls log retention.

Who can see the data

Users see questions only in spaces Confluence lets them view. Site admins and space admins can export a space's questions to CSV. Great Work staff have no access to your site unless you invite us for support, and then only what you show us.

Retention and deletion

Data stays while the App is installed. Users and moderators can delete their questions and answers in the App. When the App is uninstalled, Atlassian deletes the App's Forge storage for that site according to the Forge platform's data deletion process. To delete specific personal data while the App is installed, contact us and we will tell you how a site admin can remove it, since only your site's admins and Atlassian can access it.

Data residency

Forge storage follows your Confluence site's data residency location where Atlassian supports it for Forge apps.

Your rights

Because Great Work does not receive or hold your data, requests to access, correct or delete personal data should go to your Confluence site admin, who controls the content. We will help: email hello@greatwork.company.

Children

The App is a business tool and is not directed at children under 16.

Changes

We will post changes on this page and update the effective date. Material changes will be announced in the App's release notes at least 30 days before they apply.
