How Sightwell works

Scan

Open Sightwell from the Plugins menu and click Scan project. It reads every web page (the Desktop breakpoint, in layer order), every component, your text styles and every CMS collection. Scanning changes nothing and is always free.

Published pages

Framer doesn't let plugins read page titles, descriptions, social images or indexing settings. Publish your site, then open the Published tab and click Read published pages. Sightwell asks Great Work's page reader for each page's head (all static pages and up to 10 items of each CMS page, 150 pages at most); the reader fetches the page and returns only the head, and stores nothing. Problems show up in the Audit tab under SEO. Fix them in the page's settings in Framer.

Fix

Open a finding to see why it matters and how to fix it by hand. Findings with an automatic fix have a Preview fix button: type alt text, link text or a template if asked, check the before and after values, then Apply. A change is skipped if the value changed since the scan. Undo last fix puts the previous values back.

  • Templates use the item's fields in braces, plus {slug} and {collection}. Filters: {Title|max:60}, {Title|lower}, {Title|upper}, {Title|title}, {Body|text}. A token that is empty drops the separator next to it.
  • Heading fixes create a copy of the layer's text style named like "Heading 4 (H3)" with only the tag changed, and reuse it next time.
  • Contrast fixes change the color style (light or dark value) or the text style's own color, so every layer using it changes. The preview says how many.

Reports

The Report tab downloads a tagged PDF for a client and a CSV of every finding.

What it can't check

  • Text color set on part of a text layer, or a heading level set on a layer instead of its text style: plugins can't see these.
  • Text over images, gradients or see-through layers: listed as not measured.
  • Code components, embeds, keyboard use, captions, and whether alt text is accurate: these need a person.
