Replacewell for Webflow: user guide

What Replacewell does

Replacewell finds and replaces text across your whole Webflow site: static pages, components, component text properties, SEO and Open Graph fields, image alt text, link URLs and CMS items, including rich text. You see every change before it happens, keep the ones you want, and can undo a run later.

Install

  1. Install Replacewell from the Webflow Apps marketplace, pick your site and choose Approve. Replacewell asks to read your site's details, read and update CMS items, and confirm who you are. See "Data" below.
  2. Open the site in the Designer and open Replacewell from the Apps panel.
  3. If the panel says "Connect this site", click it, approve in the new tab, then click Check again.

Find and replace

  1. Type what to find and what to replace it with. Add more rules for a rebrand ("Old Name" to "New Name", "old.com" to "new.com"); they run in order.
  2. Options: Match case, Whole word, Keep capitalization (cat to dog, Cat to Dog, CAT to DOG), Look-alike quotes and spaces (on by default: curly quotes, non-breaking spaces and hyphens match the plain ones), Regex (with a plain-language explanation as you type, and ready-made patterns).
  3. Choose where to look: All pages or Only the page that's open, Components, SEO and Open Graph, Image alt text, Link URLs, and any CMS collections. On a localized site, pick the CMS locale. Pages and components are searched in the locale that's open in the Designer.
  4. Click Find matches. The Designer switches through your pages and components to read them, then returns to the page you were on. Finding and previewing are always free.
  5. Review the preview. Each place (page, component, SEO field, CMS item) is a group; untick a whole group or a single match. The preview shows when it was read from Webflow; click Refresh to read again.
  6. Click Apply N changes. Replacewell saves the run to History first, then writes the changes. CMS items are written in batches of up to 100 and paced to Webflow's rate limits.
  7. Tick Publish CMS items that were already live if you want changed items that were live to be re-published right away. Otherwise they're saved as changes on the live item until you publish.

Anything changed after your preview (by you or a teammate) is left alone and reported, never overwritten.

Undo and Resume

  • History lists your runs for this site. Undo puts back the old text everywhere it's still exactly as Replacewell left it. Anything edited since is left as is and listed under Details.
  • If a run stops part way (you closed the panel, lost connection, or Webflow's rate limit held it up), the panel shows it. Click Resume to finish it; nothing is written twice.
  • History is stored in this browser for 30 days. It isn't sent to Great Work. Clear it in Settings.

What changes and what doesn't

  • Text in String elements (headings, paragraphs, links, buttons, lists), component definitions, text properties set on component instances, page title, meta description, Open Graph title and description (when the page doesn't reuse the title/description), site-search title and description, image alt text, URL links (links to pages, sections, emails or files are not touched), CMS Plain Text, Rich Text, Email, Phone and (with Link URLs on) Link fields.
  • In rich text, only the words change (and link URLs with Link URLs on). Classes, data-w-id, embeds and components inside rich text stay exactly as they were.
  • Never changed: slugs, class names, styles, images, custom code, and anything on page branches.
  • A match can't span two text elements (for example a word split by a link or bold text).

Plans and billing

  • $49 a year or $6 a month per site, or $99 a year for every site in a Webflow workspace.
  • 14-day free trial per site, starting the first time you apply a change. No card needed to try it.
  • After the trial, finding, previews and Undo keep working; applying new changes needs a plan.
  • To buy: Plan tab, Choose, then Continue to secure checkout (Stripe opens in a new tab). Come back and click Refresh. Manage billing opens Stripe's billing page for invoices, card changes, switching plans or cancelling. Plans renew automatically until cancelled.
  • EU and UK buyers can cancel within 14 days of the first purchase for a full refund.

Data

Replacewell stores an encrypted Webflow access token for your site and your license status (site, workspace, plan, billing email). Page text and CMS content pass between your browser, Webflow and our server while you use the app and are never stored. See the privacy policy: https://greatwork.company/apps/replacewell-for-webflow/privacy.

To disconnect: Settings > Disconnect this site (revokes the token at Webflow and deletes it), or uninstall the app in Webflow (we delete the token the next time it's used or within 24 hours).
