Rankwell for Jira: Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 1, 2026 Publisher: Great Work LLC, 651 N Broad St Suite 206, Middletown, DE 19709, USA Contact: hello@greatwork.company
This policy explains what information the Rankwell app for Jira Cloud (the "App") processes, where it is kept, and your rights. It covers only the App, not Atlassian's products, which are governed by Atlassian's own privacy policy.
1. Summary
- The App runs entirely on Atlassian's Forge platform ("Runs on Atlassian"). It has no servers of its own and sends no data to Great Work or to any third party.
- It reads work items in the spaces where it is used and stores prioritization scores on them: a score record (an issue property) and the App's own Priority score field.
- Great Work LLC cannot see your work items, your scores or who used the App.
2. What the App processes
| Data | Why | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|
| Work item facts: id, key, summary, space, work type, status, assignee name, rank order, and the number fields a scoring method is set to read (for example Story points) | To show the scoring grid and panel and to calculate scores | In memory while a request runs; not stored by the App |
| Score record per work item: method, input values, score, the Atlassian account ids and input values of each rater (team scoring), a score history of up to 25 entries (time, account id, method, score) | The App's output and its audit trail | On the work item as an issue property in your Jira site |
| Priority score (a number) | So Jira can search and sort by the score | In your Jira site, in the App's own read-only custom field |
| Scoring methods (names, inputs, scales, formulas) and space settings (method per work type, grid filter JQL, team scoring options, who last changed them) | To apply your admins' choices | Forge app storage until uninstall |
| Recalculation jobs: method, progress counts, error text, account id of the admin who started it | To run recalculations in the background | Forge app storage; deleted automatically after 30 days |
| Last license state seen, a 1-hour cache of the Priority score field id | Licensing and speed | Forge app storage |
Rater names and avatars are read from Jira when the panel is shown and are not stored. The App does not read descriptions, comments or attachments, and does not collect email addresses, IP addresses, passwords, API tokens, payment information or analytics. It sets no cookies and loads no third-party scripts.
3. Where data is stored
All App data is stored by Atlassian: in your Jira site (score records, the Priority score field) or in Forge app storage for your site, subject to Atlassian's data residency settings. Atlassian is the hosting provider and acts as a subprocessor under Atlassian's terms. Great Work LLC uses no other subprocessors.
4. Who can see what
- The Priority score and the score record are visible to everyone who can see the work item, like any Jira field or issue property.
- In team scoring with blind rating on, the App's screens hide other people's ratings from a rater until that person has rated. The stored record itself follows Jira's work item permissions.
- Scoring requires Jira's Edit work items permission; ranking requires Schedule work items.
- Space settings: admins of that space and Jira admins. Methods: Jira admins.
- Great Work LLC: no access. If you open a support request, we see only what you send us.
5. Retention and deletion
Jobs expire after 30 days. Settings and methods stay until uninstall. Score records stay on work items until the work item is deleted (a space admin can also remove them with Jira's REST API). Uninstalling the App removes its Forge storage according to Atlassian's Forge data deletion process; the Priority score field disappears from Jira on uninstall and returns with its values if the App is reinstalled within 30 days (Atlassian's rule for Forge custom fields).
6. Support requests
If you contact support through our help desk or by email, we process what you send (name, email, message, attachments) only to answer you, keep it up to 24 months, and delete it sooner on request.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example EU/UK GDPR or US state privacy laws), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or port personal data and to object to processing. For data in your Jira site, your organization (the Atlassian customer) is the controller and Atlassian processes it on your behalf; a rater can withdraw their own rating at any time. For support data, Great Work LLC is the controller: email hello@greatwork.company. We respond within 30 days.
8. Security
The App uses only Atlassian-hosted compute and storage. Score records are written as the signed-in user, so Jira's own permissions apply; only the Priority score field is written as the App (Jira lets only the owning app write it). Admin functions check permissions on every call. The App keeps no secrets of its own. Report vulnerabilities to hello@greatwork.company.
9. Children
The App is a business tool and is not directed to children under 16.
10. Changes
We will post changes here and update the effective date. Material changes will also be announced in the App's Marketplace release notes.
