Cutline for Jira: Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 1, 2026 Publisher: Great Work LLC, 651 N Broad St Suite 206, Middletown, DE 19709, USA Contact: hello@greatwork.company
This policy explains what information the Cutline app for Jira Cloud (the "App") processes, where it is kept, and your rights. It covers only the App, not Atlassian's products, which are governed by Atlassian's own privacy policy.
1. Summary
- The App runs entirely on Atlassian's Forge platform ("Runs on Atlassian"). It has no servers of its own and sends no data to Great Work or to any third party.
- It reads spaces, versions (releases) and counts of work items in your Jira, and it releases a version only when a person asks it to, as that person. If your Jira admins choose to enforce gates, it puts a version released outside the gates back to unreleased.
- Great Work LLC cannot see your releases, checklists, approvals or who used the App.
2. What the App processes
| Data | Why | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|
| Release gates per space: switches, JQL check names and queries, checklist items, approver and item owner account ids, name pattern, who changed them and when | The rules a release must pass | Forge app storage until changed, turned off or uninstall |
| Release state per version: checklist marks (who, when, optional note), approvals (account id, decision, time, comment, number of work items at the time), extra checklist items, first planned date and later date changes, who released it and how, override reason | To show and enforce gates and slips | Forge app storage until uninstall |
| Readiness summaries (ready, gates passed, time checked) | Badges on the calendar and the widget | Forge app storage; deleted after 30 days |
| Freeze windows: name, dates, spaces, what they block, optional message, who created them | Freeze rules | Forge app storage until deleted or uninstall |
| Settings: time zone, calendar spaces, enforcement and override choices, first day of the week | To apply your admins' choices | Forge app storage until uninstall |
| Activity log: time, account id, what happened, result | So people can see what happened | Forge app storage; deleted after 180 days |
| Release tickets (a version id and a time) | To tell the App's own releases from others | Forge app storage; deleted after 10 minutes |
| Spaces, versions, counts of work items matching gate queries, a work item's space (validator) | To show the calendar and check gates | In memory while a screen loads or a check runs; not stored |
The App does not read work item summaries, descriptions, comments or attachments, and it does not collect email addresses, IP addresses, passwords, API tokens, payment information or analytics. It sets no cookies and loads no third-party scripts.
3. Where data is stored
All App data is stored by Atlassian, in your Jira site or in Forge app storage for your site, subject to Atlassian's data residency settings. Atlassian is the hosting provider and acts as a subprocessor under Atlassian's terms. Great Work LLC uses no other subprocessors.
4. Who can see what
- The calendar, release gates and approvals are visible to people who can see the space, like Jira's own Releases page. Screens read as the person viewing them, so they list only spaces and versions that person can see.
- Releases run as the person releasing, so Jira applies their own permissions. Only space admins change a space's gates; only Jira admins change freeze windows and settings.
- Great Work LLC: no access. If you open a support request, we see only what you send us.
- Atlassian: as the platform operator, under Atlassian's privacy policy.
5. Retention and deletion
Summaries, tickets and the activity log expire automatically (see section 2). Uninstalling the App removes its Forge storage according to Atlassian's Forge data deletion process; your versions stay in Jira.
6. Support requests
If you contact support through our help desk or by email, we process what you send (name, email, message, attachments) only to answer you, keep it up to 24 months, and delete it sooner on request.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example EU/UK GDPR or US state privacy laws), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or port personal data and to object to processing. For data in your Jira site, your organization (the Atlassian customer) is the controller and Atlassian processes it on your behalf; your admins can uninstall the App. For support data, Great Work LLC is the controller: email hello@greatwork.company. We respond within 30 days.
8. Security
The App uses only Atlassian-hosted compute and storage. Every release a person starts runs as that person, admin screens re-check permissions on every call, and the App keeps no secrets of its own. Report vulnerabilities to hello@greatwork.company.
9. Children
The App is a business tool and is not directed to children under 16.
10. Changes
We will post changes here and update the effective date. Material changes will also be announced in the App's Marketplace release notes.
