Accentwell documentation

What Accentwell adds

Eight macros for things Confluence has no native element for, plus one theme per space:

MacroWhat it does
Accentwell buttonsUp to three link buttons in a row
Accentwell sectionAny content on a colored background, with an optional title, icon, accent bar or border
Accentwell columnsColumns and content cards that wrap on narrow screens
Accentwell progress barsOne or more labelled progress bars
Accentwell timelineDated milestones with a status, vertical or as horizontal steps
Accentwell icon listA list with its own icon on every line
Accentwell badgeAn inline colored label
Accentwell dividerA styled divider with an optional label

Confluence already has panels, expands, tabs, layouts, status lozenges and page cards, so Accentwell doesn't duplicate them.

Insert a macro

In the editor, type /Accentwell (or open the + menu, then Apps) and pick a macro. Its settings open in the side panel. To change a macro later, select it and click the pencil.

Buttons

  • Up to three buttons. Each has a label, a link and a style.
  • Links can be https:// addresses, Confluence paths (/wiki/spaces/...), mailto:, tel: or an anchor on the same page (#section). Other kinds of links are skipped, and the macro tells you which button it skipped.
  • Styles: Space theme, Primary, Default, Subtle, Warning, Danger, Link.
  • Options: alignment, open in a new tab, stretch to the full width.

Section

  • Type anything inside it: text, lists, tables, images, other macros.
  • Background color: Space theme accent or one of ten colors (blue, teal, green, lime, yellow, orange, red, magenta, purple, gray), lightest or light shade.
  • Accent: none, a bar on the left, a bar on top, or a border all round.
  • Optional title with an icon, shown above the content or on a bold color bar.

Columns

  • Type the content of the first column, then a divider (type --- and press Enter), then the next column, and so on. Up to six columns.
  • "Wrap onto a new row below" sets the narrowest a column may get: Narrow (about 180 px), Medium (about 240 px) or Wide (about 320 px). Columns sit side by side while each has that much room and wrap onto new rows on narrower windows and phones.
  • Styles: Cards (border on a raised surface), Filled (accent color), Accent line on top, Plain.

Progress bars

One bar per line, as Label | value:

Design | 80
Build | 3 / 8
Docs | 15%

A plain number is out of the Maximum (100 by default); 3 / 8 sets its own maximum; 15% is a percentage. Colors: Space theme accent, any of the ten colors, or Traffic light (red under a third, yellow under two thirds, green above). Show the percentage, the value and maximum, or nothing. Up to 12 bars.

Timeline

One milestone per line, as When | Title | Details | status:

Jan 2026 | Kickoff | Scope and owners agreed | done
Mar 2026 | Beta | First 20 customers | now
Jun 2026 | Launch | Public release | next

Only the title is required. Status words: done (also complete, shipped), now (also current, in progress), next (also planned, todo), blocked (also late, at risk). Layout: vertical, or horizontal steps that wrap on narrow screens. Up to 30 milestones.

Icon list

One item per line, as icon | text, or just text for the default icon:

check | Single sign-on included
cross | No per-seat minimum
warning | Exports run nightly

Icons: check, cross, warning, info, star, idea, arrow, flag, heart, question, clock, calendar, lock, shield, person, team, target, trend, megaphone, link, thumbsup, thumbsdown, dot. Short names work too (yes, no, x, tip, !). "Meaningful colors" makes checks green, crosses red, warnings orange and so on; or pick one color for all. One to three columns.

Text formatting inside list fields

Progress labels, timeline entries and icon list items accept **bold**, _italic_ and [link text](https://example.com).

Badge

An inline label in the middle of a sentence. Ten colors, Subtle fill, Bold fill or Outline, and an optional icon. Text is shown as typed (Confluence's status lozenge is always upper case).

Divider

Solid, dashed or dotted; thin, medium or thick; neutral gray or a color; optional centered label; small, medium or large spacing; full width or short and centered.

Space theme

Space settings > Accentwell theme (space admins). Choose the accent color, button style, corners (rounded or square), spacing, divider line and section shade. Every macro option set to "Space theme" follows it. Pages pick up a new theme the next time they load. Spaces without a theme use the built-in one (blue, primary buttons, rounded, normal spacing, solid dividers, lightest shade).

Dark mode and phones

Every color is an Atlassian design color, so Confluence's light, dark and increased-contrast themes restyle Accentwell macros automatically. Columns, icon lists and horizontal timelines wrap on narrow screens.

PDF and Word export

Exports can't draw app macros, so Accentwell hands Confluence ordinary content for each one:

MacroIn the export
ButtonsBold links on one line
SectionA colored panel (a one-cell colored table if the section holds a quote or other content panels can't hold; without the color if it holds a table, layout or expand)
ColumnsA one-row table, one cell per column (stacked with dividers if a column holds a table)
Progress barsThe label and value, then a colored bar
TimelineA table: When, Milestone, Status (with status lozenges)
Icon listLines starting with the matching emoji
BadgeBold colored text with the icon as emoji
DividerA line, with the label centered under it

Exports use the light shades of each color.

Without an active subscription

Every macro still shows its words and links, without colors, icons or layout, plus a short note in the page view. Exports show the plain content without a note.

What Accentwell stores

One small theme record per space. Macro settings are stored in your pages by Confluence. No page text, no personal data, nothing outside Atlassian. See the privacy policy.
