Figwell for Jira: Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 1, 2026 Publisher: Great Work LLC, 651 N Broad St Suite 206, Middletown, DE 19709, USA Contact: hello@greatwork.company

This policy explains what information the Figwell app for Jira Cloud (the "App") processes, where it is kept, and your rights. It covers only the App, not Atlassian's products, which are governed by Atlassian's own privacy policy.

1. Summary

  • The App runs entirely on Atlassian's Forge platform ("Runs on Atlassian"). It has no servers of its own and sends no data to Great Work or to any third party.
  • It reads a work item's description, comments and .md/.mmd attachments in your browser, as the signed-in user, to draw diagrams and math. It does not copy or keep that content.
  • The only thing it stores is your site's Figwell settings.
  • Great Work LLC cannot see your work items or who used the App.

2. What the App processes

DataWhyWhere it lives
Description, comments (with author name and date) and the text of .md/.mmd attachments of the work item being viewedTo find and draw Mermaid diagrams, LaTeX math and MarkdownIn the viewer's browser while the panel is open; never stored or sent anywhere by the App
Markdown a user writes in "Edit in Markdown"Saved as the work item description or a new comment when the user clicks SaveIn your Jira site, written as that user (Jira records it in the work item history)
Site settings: inline $ math on/off, comments on/off, attachments on/off, diagram theme, source toggleTo apply your admins' choicesForge app storage until uninstall
License state from the Forge contextLicensingNot stored

Diagrams, equations and images (Copy image, PNG, SVG) are produced in the viewer's browser from libraries bundled in the App. The App does not load remote images, scripts, styles or fonts, does not collect email addresses, IP addresses, passwords, API tokens, payment information or analytics, and sets no cookies.

3. Where data is stored

Settings are stored by Atlassian in Forge app storage for your site, subject to Atlassian's data residency settings. Content you save with the Markdown editor is stored in your Jira site like any other edit. Atlassian is the hosting provider and acts as a subprocessor under Atlassian's terms. Great Work LLC uses no other subprocessors.

4. Who can see what

  • Every read and write is made as the signed-in user, so Jira's Browse, Edit work items and Add comments permissions apply. A user sees only what Jira already shows them.
  • Settings: Jira admins (Jira settings > Apps > Figwell).
  • Great Work LLC: no access. If you open a support request, we see only what you send us.

5. Retention and deletion

Settings stay until uninstall. Uninstalling the App removes its Forge storage according to Atlassian's Forge data deletion process. Diagram and math source stays in your descriptions and comments as plain text; nothing about your content depends on the App being installed.

6. Support requests

If you contact support through our help desk or by email, we process what you send (name, email, message, attachments) only to answer you, keep it up to 24 months, and delete it sooner on request.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example EU/UK GDPR or US state privacy laws), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or port personal data and to object to processing. For data in your Jira site, your organization (the Atlassian customer) is the controller and Atlassian processes it on your behalf. For support data, Great Work LLC is the controller: email hello@greatwork.company. We respond within 30 days.

8. Security

The App uses only Atlassian-hosted compute and storage, keeps no secrets of its own, and writes nothing as the App: descriptions and comments are saved as the signed-in user. Rendered Markdown is escaped, links with unsafe schemes are dropped, Mermaid runs in its strict security mode and LaTeX runs without link or style commands. Report vulnerabilities to hello@greatwork.company.

9. Children

The App is a business tool and is not directed to children under 16.

10. Changes

We will post changes here and update the effective date. Material changes will also be announced in the App's Marketplace release notes.
