Excerptory Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 1, 2026

This policy covers Excerptory: Excerpt Library and Usage Map for Confluence (the "App"), a Forge app published on the Atlassian Marketplace by Great Work LLC ("Great Work", "we", "us"), 651 N Broad St Suite 206, Middletown, DE 19709, USA. Contact: hello@greatwork.company.

Summary

The App runs entirely on Atlassian's Forge platform. It keeps an index of which Confluence pages share reusable content (excerpts, snippets, synced blocks) and which pages include it, and shows that index to the people who can view those pages. Great Work does not run servers for the App, does not receive your content, and does not sell or share personal data.

What the App stores

In Forge Key-Value Store for your site:

  • One record per page that shares or reuses content: the page id, title, space key, version number and time, and for each reusable source on it its type, name or id, optional description, a preview of up to 160 characters of its text, a hash of its content, the names of its {{variables}}, and when it last changed; for each include on it, the page or block it points at and, for Excerptory's Insert snippet, the variable values set on it.
  • One record per scanned space: scan status, page counts and times.

No account IDs, email addresses or other personal data are stored. A preview can contain whatever text the page author put in the excerpt.

What the App reads and changes

  • When a page is created, edited or restored, and when someone scans a space, the App reads the page body as the App to update the index. It only reads.
  • When someone opens the Excerpt library, the Reuse button or the Insert snippet dialog, the App reads the index and asks Confluence, as that person, which of the pages they may view. Only those are shown.
  • Insert snippet reads the source page as the person viewing the page, so restricted content stays restricted.
  • "Rename everywhere" is the only action that changes pages: it updates an excerpt's name on its page and on pages that include it, as the person who clicked it, with their edit permissions, as normal page versions.

What leaves Atlassian

Nothing. The App has no external network permissions and no remote backend. Great Work cannot see your pages or users. Atlassian provides the hosting and processes data under its own terms (https://www.atlassian.com/legal/privacy-policy) as the platform provider.

Logs

Forge keeps function logs that Great Work can read for troubleshooting. The App logs only error messages and page ids, never page content, and never logs tokens. Atlassian controls log retention.

Retention and deletion

Index records are replaced when a page changes, removed when a page no longer shares or reuses anything, and removed for trashed or deleted pages on the next scan of the space. When the App is uninstalled, Atlassian deletes the App's Forge storage for that site according to the Forge platform's data deletion process. Macros added to pages stay part of those pages.

Data residency

Forge storage follows your Confluence site's data residency location where Atlassian supports it for Forge apps.

Your rights

Because Great Work does not receive or hold your data, requests to access, correct or delete personal data should go to your Confluence site admin. We will help: email hello@greatwork.company.

Children

The App is a business tool and is not directed at children under 16.

Changes

We will post changes on this page and update the effective date. Material changes will be announced in the App's release notes at least 30 days before they apply.
