Editionwell for Confluence: Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 1, 2026 Publisher: Great Work LLC, 651 N Broad St Suite 206, Middletown, DE 19709, USA Contact: hello@greatwork.company
This policy explains what information the Editionwell app for Confluence Cloud (the "App") processes, where it is kept, and the choices people have. It covers only the App, not Atlassian's products, which are governed by Atlassian's own privacy policy.
1. Summary
- The App runs entirely on Atlassian's Forge platform ("Runs on Atlassian"). It has no servers of its own and sends no data to Great Work or to any third party, including analytics or AI services.
- It stores documentation sets, the link between each page and its counterparts in other versions, variants, each reader's variant choice, jobs and an activity log in Forge storage for your site.
- Great Work LLC cannot see your pages, settings or activity log.
2. What the App processes
| Data | Why | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|
| Documentation sets: name, versions (name, space id, key and name, root page id, title suffix, status, dates, who created them), latest version, variants (names, page labels), variables and their values per variant, variant outputs, alias page ids, who set it up | Configuration | Forge storage for your site, until the set is deleted or the App is uninstalled |
| For each page of a set: its page id and title in every version, which page it was copied from and that page's version then | The version switcher, compare and carry, the overview | Forge storage, until the set or version is removed |
| Variant outputs: for each page, the id of its published copy | Updating the right output page | Forge storage, until the set is deleted |
| Alias pages: page id, set, page they open, who made them | The redirect to the latest version | Forge storage, until removed |
| Each reader's variant choice: account id, set, chosen variant | Showing the right variant | Forge storage, 365 days |
| Jobs: what was copied or compared, by whom, per page the result, error text, titles of links outside the documentation, fingerprints of page bodies for the overview | Running jobs, the overview, reports | Forge storage, 180 days |
| Activity log: time, account id, action, version, page id and title, job id, a short detail line | The activity log and its export | Forge storage, 365 days |
| Page content and attachments | Read from the source page and written to the new page; compared for the preview | Not stored by the App |
The App does not collect email addresses, IP addresses, browser or device data, passwords, API tokens or payment information. It sets no cookies and loads no third-party scripts.
3. Changes the App makes in Confluence
Only when a person asks for them:
- starting a version: creates a copy of every page of the source version (title, body, parent), adds the same labels and uploads the same attachments;
- carrying changes: writes the chosen changes, or a whole page, into the counterpart page in the other version (Confluence keeps the earlier version in page history), or creates the page there;
- publishing a variant: creates or updates pages in the chosen output space and moves output pages whose source is gone to the trash;
- creating an alias page: creates a short page that sends readers to the latest version;
- archiving a version with Confluence's archive: asks Confluence to archive that version's pages.
It never changes the pages of the version a job copies from.
4. Where data is stored
All App data is stored by Atlassian in Forge storage for your site, subject to Atlassian's data residency settings. Atlassian is the hosting provider and acts as a subprocessor under Atlassian's terms. Great Work LLC uses no other subprocessors.
5. Who can see what
- The banner and a page's counterparts: people who can see that page.
- A set's versions, overview and jobs: people who can see the set's home space.
- The activity log: the set's creator and admins of its home space.
- Great Work LLC: no access. If you open a support request, we see only what you send us.
- Atlassian: as the platform operator, under Atlassian's privacy policy.
6. Your choices
- Readers can pick a variant or "All variants" at any time; their choice expires after a year.
- Space admins can remove versions, delete a documentation set and remove alias redirects. Pages always stay ordinary Confluence pages.
- Requests about personal data held by the App go to your Confluence admins, who control it. Great Work LLC will help them on request at hello@greatwork.company.
7. Retention and deletion
Jobs expire after 180 days; readers' choices and the activity log after 365 days. Deleting a documentation set removes its mapping. Uninstalling the App removes its Forge storage according to Atlassian's Forge data deletion process. Pages the App created stay in Confluence like any other page.
8. Security
Data is protected by Atlassian's Forge platform (encryption in transit and at rest, tenant isolation). Every action checks permissions on the server. See our security self-assessment on request.
9. Changes
We will post changes to this policy on this page and update the effective date. Material changes will be noted in the App's release notes.
